Project 2... the green dress.
I started this project right after I finished the black dress, and I just finished it yesterday with the help of my wonderful Mother, without whom this never would've been possible, AT ALL. Thanks, Mom!!!!
So this one started out as this pattern:
I was using the one that got whited out by the flash... but first I cut out the wrong pattern and ran out of fabric. So that was the second trip to JoAnn's to get more fabric.
Then I made the bodice, the sleeves were a pain, the bodice was pretty easy, then it looked horrible when I got that part done. So I looked at it, dragged it to Mom, complained in a loud tone, she totally understood and complained with me, and then we played with the bodice, nothing worked, and we scrapped it. At least, for a little while. I went searching through the old patterns to see if there was another bodice that would work, and found this old pattern:
"Look!" I yelled to Mom, "It looks like the lines are SIMILAR!!!" and Mom was like "Well, this can't get any more messed up, let's go for it!"
And so we went back to JoAnn's and got more fabric. That was the 3rd trip. So I made that bodice, and sure enough, it worked pretty well! Then it was too long, so I took the shoulders up a bit, and that made it fit perfectly. So I started the sleeves... and realized I didn't want the ginormous ones belonging to the pattern, and I didn't want to re-make the other sleeves very much at all. So I looked at the old bodice that turned out so awful, and decided the sleeves could be salvaged. And they were! After Mom remade them, that is...
haha
Then we did the zipper and a few other things, Mom top stitched and used a nifty hemmer attachment on her machine, and this is it!
And now, I'm not making anymore dresses until I get a few skirts done. I LIKE SKIRTS. SKIRTS DON'T HAVE SLEEVES.

Updates from a frenzied mind
School:
I'm learning more about the wonderful world of C# programming. And so the first week, I basically felt like there was this huge, very thick brick wall. However, the brick walls have been manageable for me in the past, so I ran headlong into it! BAM!!!!!! It didn't go so well. Eh, that was just a fluke, right? Off I go again! CLANG CRASH KABOOM!!!!!! Just as well as the last time. Well, this time I think to myself, repeated blows, that'll bring the thing down! So I repeatedly bopped my head against this brick wall, figuring it'd come down eventually. Finally, the second week was coming to a close. It was Thursday, when I looked up and realized the brick wall could be climbed over. So I spent the rest of Thursday looking up and formulating my scaling strategy. Friday morning, things started clicking for me, and I got my head above the brick wall and looked over. It was astonishing, the possibilities over the wall were unimaginably amazing. The different ways of using these skills expanded themselves, and I was extremely excited. Am I over the brick wall? Most likely not... ;) But I have made a start, and my head is not as sore! I'll be working on my final project tomorrow, learning how to create a game. I'm calling it "Don't eat Pete" and it'll be this little square that goes around eating "food" (aka littler squares) while avoiding a large circle intent on eating Pete. Silly? Absolutely! Fun? Of course! (I hope...)
As for the other class, it's training us to be a professional and also testing our skills. I want to get all the homework for the skills complete this week. I have a simple web page to create, a C# program to send, and a request for purchase of a program which will be used by a bank with 25,000 customers. The professional aspect is fascinating, and I enjoy it very much.
Sewing:
Another brick wall has been hurdled on the green dress (project #2), and the top of the dress is approaching completion! Thanks to my amazing Mom, who helped me over the wall. So the complete dress story is approaching the hopefully happy ending. ;) The whole story is quite intense, and will be told another day.
The Garden:
Is failing. Just kidding, it might be recovering! :) At any rate, the homegrown strawberries are so very fantastic that I really can't complain if that's all we get this time around. And the beets are doing so very well! So yeah, it's going pretty good!
DANCE!:
The best for last! :D Dance is fantastic as always, I love it so much! Dance camp has been moved to be a month closer, which is pretty sad 'cuz not everyone can make it, but it's happy as well, because it's going to be so much fun and I don't have to wait as long for it. We're gearing up for the Idaho Shakespeare festival volunteering, and heading out for a Highland Games soon! Wonderful times, great memories, and I am so excited!!!!
Summary:
I talk too much. BYE!

Cake
So the beginning of May has two birthdays in it, and I got to bake the cakes! It was really fun, my Aunt loves Junior Mints, so I made one cake look like a large Junior Mint with a Junior Mint swirl on top:
It turned out pretty cute, I was excited!
The other one I made in a heart shaped bundt pan:
Mom did some toasted coconut to put on top of that one, and I thought it was pretty cute too!
Here are both of 'em:
So that's another adventure... somehow I think I keep getting new adventures so I don't have to keep sewing... ;) hahahahaha
And the best part was that both of the cakes tasted REALLY good! It was a kind of chocolate cake that doesn't have milk in it, which is pretty cool, it's called "Crazy Cake".
